Print Search Walking with the Snowman this Christmas

Print Search are an official corporate sponsor of one of 12 giant sculptures that will go under the hammer in an online charity auction in December to raise money for BBC Children in Need.

The festive event is planned to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Raymond Briggs’ heart-warming picture book The Snowman.

Walking with the Snowman will feature 12 giant snowman sculptures themed around The Twelve days of Christmas. Each sculpture is being designed and decorated by one of 12 talented artists, all of whom painted a bee for this summer’s Bee in the City trail.

Print Search’s festive snowman has been painted in the theme of Two Turtle Doves by tattoo artist Megan Evans.

Megan explained where she drew her inspiration from, “For my design based on Two Turtle Doves, I used a simple colour palette to create a striking image, showing the love and friendship of the two doves together. At Christmas, if you give one turtle dove to someone special and keep the other, it is thought you will be friends forever. I wanted to represent this act of giving, with the silhouette of Santa and his reindeers along a trail of magic stars, on the back of the snowman.”

Working on this snowman in aid of Children in Need means a lot to both Print Search and Megan, “To work with any charity and to be able to raise money for them is an honour, but with this being Children in Need, it means so much more. I’ve loved The Snowman ever since I was 2 years old, and I collect snowmen now (I have over 200 of them!!) so to be able to paint one in itself is such a special thing. But with them then being auctioned to raise money for Children in Need makes it extra special, and it makes me feel like I’ve helped make a difference to someone’s life. If my artwork can help such a great cause then it can only be a good thing!”

The Snowman trail will launch at a spectacular Christmas light switch on at Media City on Thursday 22nd November (5-8pm).
